New season, new skincare routine. My approach to beauty products is no different than my approach to fashion: quality over quantity. Slabbing on fifteen different creams often does me more damage than good, so I aim to keep it simple with key ingredients and quality products.
Personally, summer butchers my skin. New York City in the summertime is basically like stepping into a sauna. Except they inject dirt and smoke into the air instead of eucalyptus oil. So fall is all about repairing summer’s damage and prepping my skin for winter.
I keep the basics the same all year round: a simple Cetaphil foaming cleanser and a prescription retinol at night. But for fall I use 3 supplementary Abotaniq products: A Vitamin C toner, Reparative Moisture Cream, and Firming Cream Concentrate for Eyes.
The Vitamin C Toner
I can’t stress how important Vitamin C is for the skin. It evens skin tone, reduces redness, lightly moisturizes, prevents aging, and has pretty much every other positive effect you can think of. I’ve tried it in the form of a serum, but I didn’t love the idea of having an extra layer of oil on my face (hello breakouts). So the Vitamin C Toner is genius. I swipe it on after washing my face, and I even see some dirt on the cotton pad that my facewash missed. Gross, but good! Also, if you have any red marks or hyper-pigmentation like I do, this will clear it up. I saw improvements in days. Literally.
The Firming Cream Concentrate for Eyes
This cream is in tie with Benefit’s brightening for my favorite eye cream ever. It’s thick but not greasy. Gentle but still works. I don’t like much fuss in my eye cream, so this does the job of moisturizing and preventing fine lines.
The Reparative Moisture Cream
I will definitely be using this reparative cream every night in harsh winter months. But for fall it’s perfect for those at home facials, or when you need a bit more TLC. I’m very acne prone, so I approach every night cream in suit and armor. But this doesn’t break me out! Yay!
How do you prep your skin for fall?

Quality over Quantity most definitely. A couple of years back, I had terrible skin breakout after i had used some black market skin products. I learnt my lesson and now I stick to quality products and routine that has been great for me. Of course summer is always hectic on the skin.

My skin can survive the fall season pretty good, it’s the nasty super freezing winters in Chicago can make my skin flaky and dry..it’s so bad I sometimes have to resort to vaseline to heal the stinking cracks on my skin. Yes, vaseline on my face!! Super unhealthy, this stuff sounds like a darn good deal for my face. Going to have to check them out before the brutal winter is upon us. Happy weekend lovely!

This is so helpful… I feel as I reach my 30’s I really need to start putting in the effort to take care of my eyes especially. It’s a sad milestone but necessary nonetheless. So thank you :)

These are great picks! I am still working out my fall skin routine, but I usually use micellar water and a heavier moisturizer at night. I really want to try out that Vitamin C toner!

Ahhh loved thos post! I always love love love reading about new (or new to me) skincare brands – especially if their packaging is so on point! I love the idea about the toner – my skin always lacks vitamine C so this would be such a good option for me!
