It always excites me when I discover a new, young emerging designer. With not only a unique aesthetic, but a progressive vision. Let me introduce: Malaika.
The Danish Parsons graduate behind Malaika launched the brand in April 2016. And she is on the rise. The entire line is produced and sourced in New York, and the identity of the city is embodied in her designs. From the strong lines, to the industrial aesthetic, to the urban materials. (Those rings are made out of plastic bags btw). It feels like New York: minimalist, futurist, but still timeless.
But Malaika isn’t just fashion for the sake of fashion. All the garments are sustainable, and for each garment sold, a tree is planted for the canopy project in East Africa.
P.S. There is a new tab on the website, where I will be sharing with you my favorite under-the-radar emerging designer of the month. Super excited to kick it off with Malaika!
